We are pleased to be joined by guest speaker Elena Round, Benefits Advisor, from the newly established Daisy Disability Support Service (formerly known as DIAL the Disability Information and Advice Line). Elena will be coming to talk to us about the exciting relaunch of this much needed service.
Daisy Disability Support provides free, confidential and impartial advice on all things related to welfare benefits and in particular, help with the following:

Telephone disability benefit entitlement checks
-
Help with the completion of disability benefit claim forms: e.g. Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Carers Allowance (CA)

Support and advice with disability benefit revisions and appeals
Elena will provide a short presentation and afterwards she will be happy to answer any questions.
The Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust is still looking to hear from unpaid carers about their experiences of mental health services as a carer. Please consider completing their survey via the link below:

Monday 13th April
We will meet at the Malvern Hills Science Park as usual from
7-9pm (directions).
We will be joined by Justine Hill, Deputy Associate Director of Primary Care and Community Mental Health.
She will give a talk following on from that given by Diane Topham on 2nd February. NHS England carried out an independent review into the tragedies in Nottingham and Justine will outline the issues identified, including:

personalised assessment of risk across community and inpatient teams
-
joint discharge planning arrangements between the person, their family, the inpatient and community team (alongside other involved agencies)
-
multi-agency working and information sharing
-
working closely with families
-
eliminating Out of Area Placements in line with ICB 3-year plans
Justine will focus on how WHAC NHS Trust are progressing with these 5 work streams and in particular the service provision for patients with severe and enduring mental illnesses.
